Arizona falls in the Quarterfinals

ARIZONA DROPS SEMI FINAL MATCH TO NATIONAL CHAMPION CALIFORNIA

 

ARIZONA fell short in the Quarterfinal match versus California 12 - 26.  Although the half time score was 14 - 12 to Cal, the Wildcats were depleted by the match end. 

Arizona, Cal and Dartmouth are the only three teams in the history of the event to reach at least the quarterfinals in all four CRC events.

The Wildcats thank all of the alumni, family and friends who have lent financial and heartfelt support of the program.

Arizona once again played before millions on NBC TV and made friends around the globe!

And- make your plans to be in Philadelphia the first weekend of June in 2013!

Cal went on to win the National Championship 19 - 12  over Life University.

Day 2 in Philadelphia!!

ARIZONA DROPS PENN, LOSES TO DARTMOUTH IN HEARTBREAKER

The University  of Arizona Wildcats defeated Penn 26 - 5 before losing a thrilling match seen by a national television audience 21 - 19 to Dartmouth to conclude pool play in the 2013 Collegiate Rugby Championships in Philadelphia.  Arizona finishes the pool with a 2 - 1 record and advance to the national quarterfinals at 10:00 a.m. (EDT)  Their opponent will be Cal.



The loss to Dartmouth was Arizona's first ever pool play loss since the event was begun in 2010.  Arizona is now 10-1-1 all time in CRC Pool Play.  Arizona is one of just three schools to have qualified for the quarterfinals in all four events.  The others are California, and Dartmouth.

If Arizona advances, they would play the winner of the Life V. Kutztown match.

There will be no TV coverage of the quarterfinals. NBC SPORTS NETWORK WILL SIGN ON AT  2:00 EST.  THE NBC NETWORK WILL BEGIN COVERAGE AT 3:30 EDT.…

ARIZONA WINS OPENER!!

ARIZONA SCORES FIVE TRIES IN THE OPENER, DEFEAT WISCONSIN 31 – 17

The University  of Arizona Wildcats opened the 2013 Collegiate rugby championships with a 31 – 17 win over the Wisconsin Badgers.  The game was played in a spectator less  PPL Park in Philadelphia. 

Arizona was off to a fast start with back to back tries by Jack Arnold and Cody Naber.  However two defensive lapses let the Badgers dot twice, once converted and Wisconsin led at the break 12 - 10. 

In the second half, Arizona tallied two quick tries by Jake Haebe and Ryan Matyas.  With two conversions by Jack Arnold, Arizona reclaimed the lead 24 -10.   With two minutes remaining, Matt Tomasetti ran a strong support line for Arizona's fifth try, converted by Arnold.

On the final play of the match, Wisconsin scored off a lost Arizona scrum. 

Arizona has extended their CRC win streak to 9 in a row - dating back to 2010.  The Wildcats drew their first game 5 - 5 with ARMY. Since then, they have defeated all nine opponents, shutting out five.…
